About UAP

An initiative of the United Nations Foundation, the Universal Access Project mobilizes resources and connects partners to strengthen U.S. foreign policy leadership and private sector action on global sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice.

The Universal Access Project works to create a world where all people have full bodily autonomy and the right to self-determination in family planning, pregnancy, parenting and sexual health and well-being as the foundation of gender equity and women’s empowerment.

Nearly half of women in 57 developing countries still cannot freely make their own decisions about whether or not to have sex, use contraception or seek health care, according to research by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Together with our partners, UAP is committed to supporting a transformational sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice agenda that centers the lives and priorities of the people who experience the greatest threats to their reproductive freedom.
